MEETINGS and COVID-19:
The City of KCMO mask mandate for meetings is no longer in effect. You may still wear a mask if you like. We will also continue to Zoom the meeting to those members that don't feel comfortable at an in-person meeting or just can't attend the meeting in person. The Zoom details will be emailed to members the week before the meeting.


October 14th Regular Meeting: Expert KC Woodturner top turner Jerry Darter will demonstrate how to turn a spinning top and decorate it. Jerry was a member of the KCWT Top Turners that donated as many as 3000 top per year to the Ronald McDonald House. Jerry has turned well over 10,000 top so far in his turning career.
October 14th Challenge:
Turn something that you viewed on a video or saw at a woodturning symposium.

Renewed Members: Please remember to pick up your 2024 KCWT Membership Card at any Woodturners regular meeting or any time the clubhouse is open (see Guild schedule). The metal card file box is beside the Guild membership card file box on the walnut counter at the clubhouse entry way. When you pay your 2024 dues, your new 2024 KCWT Membership Card will be in the metal card file box.

New members name badges and membership cards will be stored on the KC Woodturners badge rack inside the front door to the right.

Current KCWT membership cards give members 10% discount on non-electrical items at Woodcraft, Metro Hardwoods, Schutte Lumber, Rockler, Penn State, and Klingspor. This 10% discount is an enormous member benefit. Many members use this benefit to pay for their dues many times over.

KC Woodturner member Bill Paullo will demonstrate how he stabilizes wood for his turning projects.


OPEN TURNING:
Open Turning in our lathe room is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Saturday mornings 8:30am-noon. All eight lathes are available for use. You can always drop by and talk about a project. Anthony Harris will be the shop Opener on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.


FUTURE EVENTS:
The last First Fridays event is October 4th, 2024. First Fridays at the Crossroads District:
There will be seven First Fridays from April until October 2024, the first Friday of every month, at the Crossroads District in KCMO. View the Crossroads website: Click Here.

The KC Woodturners as well as the KC Woodworkers Guild will sell things at this event in the new clubhouse. Paid members can also sell things by signing up as a Guild seller using the Guild's SignupGenius. The Guild will charge a 20% fee on everything sold to pay for the First Fridays Assn. entry fee. The Guild will send instructions to all First Friday Vendors.
