BENEFITS OF JOINING
There are many benefits to becoming a member of our organization.
Gain and share knowledge. We are an informal group and we have a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, Woodturning, and we encourage you to share your skills and knowledge with us and we will do the same. Visit one of our monthly meetings (we meet the 2nd Monday of each month) and find out what we are all about.
Learn how to use a lathe and turn wood. And spin it and cut it and make beautiful things out of wood. We own 12 lathes of different sizes and manufactures and have open turning sessions on every Saturday morning from 8:30 am until noon, every Wednesday evening (except the 3rd Wednesday) from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and every Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Experienced members are usually on hand to answer questions and offer help.
Save money with our Sponsors. By being a member you get a 10% discount from Woodcraft in Lenexa, KS, Schutte Lumber in Kansas City, MO. and Metro Hardwoods in Independence, MO.
See how the experts do it! We are committed to having nationally known Woodturners in to demonstrate for us. We will attempt to have one as often as scheduling permits. There will be a modest fee for these programs. Members and non-members are welcome to attend.
We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month @7:00 at:
1717 Washington Street,
Kansas City MO, 64108

MEETINGS and COVID-19:
The City of KCMO mask mandate for meetings is no longer in effect. You may still wear a mask if you like. We will also continue to Zoom the meeting to those members that don't feel comfortable at an in-person meeting or just can't attend the meeting in person. The Zoom details will be emailed to members the week before the meeting.
August 12th Regular Meeting: KC Woodturner member Kevin Neelley will walk through a video he made showing the use of a "wedgie sled" for cutting segmented bowl ring segments. He will also show the ring being glued and will demonstrate his Segment Sweeper accessory invention. August 12th Challenge: Turn a bowl from a baseball bat blank and decorate the surface.
Renewed Members: Please remember to pick up your 2024 KCWT Membership Card at any Woodturners regular meeting or any time the clubhouse is open (see Guild schedule). The metal card file box is beside the Guild membership card file box on the walnut counter at the clubhouse entry way. When you pay your 2024 dues, your new 2024 KCWT Membership Card will be in the metal card file box. Current membership cards give members 10% off non-electrical items at Woodcraft, Metro Hardwoods, Schutte Lumber, Rockler, Penn State, and Klingspor. This 10% off is a great member benefit. Many members use this benefit to pay for their dues many times over.
