Open Lathe Saturday/Wednesday/Thursday

The KC Woodturners Lathe Room is open three half-days per week, Saturday, Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers open the clubhouse for Open Lathe, stay available for questions during the open time, then close the clubhouse back up.

The Volunteers are not intended to be trainers. They have their own projects. If you have a complicated project that neither you or the evening Volunteer feel you can safely turn, then you should ask for help on a Saturday morning, when there are more experienced turners available.

The Club requests that all Open Lathe attendees donate a couple dollars per use into the Donation Bowl to help defray costs for our equipment wear and tear.

The club also requests that Open Lathe attendees thoroughly clean their lathe area after use as well as the other tools used, like the bandsaw, drill press, and grinder and empty the trash cans and vacuum cleaners. Please leave the clubhouse lathe room cleaner than you found it. Thank you from your Club.

All members or guests who enter the KC Woodturners Lathe Room to view turning or to use the club equipment must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability and enter emergency contact(s). No Exceptions. If you don’t enter the KC Woodturners Lathe Room you do not need to sign the Waiver. You only need to sign this form once. This Release is to protect your club and is very similar to the KC Woodworkers Guild document. You can print out the form using the link below and bring it with you to the KC Woodturners Lathe Room and deposit it in the wooden bowl on the coffee maker table. Or, you can get a form just inside the Lathe Room and fill it out as you enter the Lathe Room. We will keep an up-to-date listing of people who sign the Release and Waiver of Liability on the bulletin board in the Lathe Room and another up-to-date listing on the KC Woodturners website.
